About Nelson House Medicine Lodge
Established in August 1989, Nelson House Medicine Lodge addresses the urgent need for counseling and residential addictions treatment services specifically for Indigenous peoples. As the only NNADAP (National Native Alcohol and Drug Abuse Program) facility in Manitoba’s north, it plays a vital role in the community’s recovery efforts.
Unique Treatment Programs
The Medicine Lodge provides a 21-bed, non-medical, inpatient treatment program tailored for individuals experiencing alcohol and drug addiction. This 8-week co-ed program focuses on cultural-based addiction programs, allowing participants to reconnect with their heritage, spirituality, and sobriety.
Supporting the Community
Nelson House Medicine Lodge is committed to fostering an addiction-free community. It operates as one of approximately 550 community-based NNADAP providers across Canada, offering outreach programs designed to reduce alcohol, drug, and solvent abuse among on-reserve populations.
In addition to its treatment services, the center provides prevention, intervention, and aftercare support for clients, ensuring they receive the help they need even after completing their programs.
